Tips from Young Adults on Policy Change in the Mental Health System

Recently, Project S/PAC compiled a tip sheet called "Advice to Young Adults from Young Adults: Helpful Hints for Policy Change in the Mental Health System" for use by youth and young adult led organizations who wish to make policy changes in the mental health system. This resource contains recommendations and quotes from a series of interviews with young adult leaders from advocacy groups that focus on mental health challenges or living in foster care.

Achieving Cross-System Collaboration [enable images to see]

Tips for Service Providers on Cross-System Collaboration to Support Young People

Young people with mental health conditions have a wide range of needs related to health, education, employment, and safe housing. They may also have needs that are not specific to any system in their transition to adulthood. In response to the need for cross-system collaboration, Project PTTP created a new tip sheet called "Achieving Cross-System Collaboration to Support Young People in the Transition Years: A Tip Sheet for Service Providers."

Opportunity for Agencies that Want to Include Young People in Decision-Making

Pathways researchers and Youth M.O.V.E. National have developed a new tool for agencies to assess whether their policies and procedures support the meaningful participation of young people in decision-making. It is called the Agency-Level Assessment of Youth Voice (YVAL) and you can help test it by completing an online survey. The first step in participating is to register to take the survey – if you register more than 15 people, you can request a report on your scores.

EASA Connections Investigator Meets with Executive Director of Orygen

Tamara Sale (EASA Connections) and Janet Walker (Project AMP+) recently met with Patrick McGorry, Professor of Youth Mental Health and Executive Director of Orygen, the National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, Australia. Prof. McGorry is an internationally-recognized pioneer in the field of early interventions for psychosis and youth mental health. He was also a contributing author in Focal Point 2016: Early Psychosis Interventions.
