Tip Sheet: AMP's Top Ten Tips for Engaging with Young People

Pathways project AMP+ is field testing a workforce intervention focused in part on training and coaching peer support providers who work with emerging adults with SMHCs. This new tip sheet provides advice on how to engage successfully with youth, using specific examples to illustrate effective (and ineffective) communication.

Promoting Positive Futures: Evidence Based Practices in Juvenile Justice and Behavioral Health

Date: Tuesday, November 1, 2016

Time: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM PST / 1:00pm – 2:00pm EST

This webinar will share evidence-based approaches to supporting young people with mental health difficulties including co-occurring substance use disorders who are involved in the Juvenile Justice system. New SAMHSA Guidance References Pathways

SAMHSA has issued new guidance on meaningful youth engagement in meetings and events. It was written to ensure positive and meaningful experiences for youth when they participate in national events and meetings. It will help staff gain youth input and perspectives while demonstrating best practices for youth engagement. Cited within the guidelines is Pathways RTC's "Strategic Sharing Workbook: Youth Voice in Advocacy."

Helping Young Adults from Foster Care Succeed in College

Youth and young adults exiting foster care can face special challenges while transitioning to higher education. Project FUTURES has recently completed a tipsheet for college faculty and staff that addresses some of these issues. The call for submissions to the 30th Annual Research & Policy Conference on Child, Adolescent, and Young Adult Behavioral Health is now open. There will be an emerging adult track!
