"Keep Your Head in the Game": Workshop

A new workshop for youth in transition has been developed through a partnership between Better Futures (a Pathways RTC project) and FosterClub. This workshop is focused on the challenges youth transitioning from foster care may face while pursuing their goals around higher education. It provides resources and tools for young people and adult supporters to proactively pursue higher education while maintaining mental health and wellness.

A Theory of Change for Positive Developmental Approaches: Article

Recently published in the Journal of Behavioral Health Services & Research, this article presents a model of how positive developmental approaches are effective in programs and interventions for emerging adults who have serious mental health conditions. The model considers a holistic connection of contributing factors – from intervention and program elements to an emergence of maturity and stability in the young person.

EASA Presents in Washington, DC

On Monday, 5/11, Tamara Sale, Director of the EASA Center for Excellence, spoke at the early psychosis Congressional briefings. The briefings were sponsored and organized by the National Council for Behavioral Health and National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors. Tamara’s talk described the need for early psychosis support and how EASA is responding.

Social Media and Teen Mental Wellness

Project UROK (“You are OK”) is a new non-profit video platform featuring candid videos with comedians, actors and other public figures talking frankly about their mental health and how they came to accept themselves. The project’s goal is to create a sense of community for youth with mental health challenges and assure them that they aren’t alone in their struggles.

Pathways Webinar on June 2: Addressing Homelessness among Youth Aging Out of Foster Care

Jennifer Blakeslee, PhD will present a social network support perspective on the growing problem of homelessness for youth aging out of foster care. She will also make intervention recommendations to bolster informal social support networks as well as discuss policy changes. Register »
