Webinar: Addressing Homelessness Among Youth Aging Out of Foster Care

Jennifer Blakeslee, PhD will present a social network support perspective on the growing problem of homelessness for youth aging out of foster care. Dr. Blakeslee will also discuss possible future policy changes and make intervention recommendations to bolster the informal social support networks of foster youth.

New Focal Point on Trauma-Informed Care Coming Soon!

Nearly half of all youth in the United States have been exposed to at least one adverse childhood experience, and the occurrence of multiple trauma exposures is common within specific populations. This issue will focus on trauma-informed approaches for transition-age youth.

New Screening for Youth in Juvenile Justice System

Many youth in the juvenile justice system are challenged with co-occurring behavioral health needs. To aid system of care practitioners, Reclaiming Futures recently published guidelines for dual diagnosis screening and assessment of these youth. This free resource contains links to other sources of information as well as lists of screening and assessment instruments.

Racial / Ethnic Disparities in Youth Mental Health

A new report from the WIlliam T. Grant Foundation investigates disparities in mental health and mental health services for minority youth. The authors explore four areas that may give rise to inequalities in mental health outcomes, highlight specific protective factors and barriers to care, and, finally, outline an agenda for future research.
